Accidents do happen and disasters do occur.
It is wise that you are prepared for the unexpected.

 

Earthquake

Personal safety measures in case of earthquake:

  1. Try to remain calm.

  2. If you are not inside a building, go immediately to an open area far away from trees or      buildings.

  3. If you are inside a building, hide under the table or other furniture that can protect you      from falling objects.

  4. After the shaking stops, immediately head for the fire escape stairs as per the standard      evacuation procedure.

  5. Do not attempt to get back into the building before any announcement from the      authorities.

If you are trapped in a burning Office Building :

  1. Try to remain calm.

  2. Ring the available fire alarm.

  3. If available, follow the evacuation procedure.

  4. Calmly head for the nearest emergency stairs.

  5. If trapped in smoke, try not to inhale too much smoke. If smoke is too thick, try to      remain as low as possible. Use wet cloth or tissue to cover your nose.

 

If you are trapped in a burning Residence :

  1. Try to remain calm.

  2. Evacuate family members while remaining calm, through the safer parts of the house.

  3. Contact the Fire Department office.

  4. If you are sure, use the available fire extinguisher, or use water from the nearest source      while keeping yourself safe and alert of your surroundings.

 

If the clothes you wear catches fire , follow these steps:

  1. STOP right where you are.

  2. DROP YOURSELF on the floor.

  3. ROLL AROUND constantly, covering your face and mouth with your palm (this will prevent      fire from burning your face and smoke from getting into your lungs). Roll around until the      fire is put off.

  4. COOL DOWN the burnt skin with water for 10 - 15 minutes. Get paramedic help if      necessary.

Fire Extinguisher

How to use Portable Fire Extinguisher:

  1. Pay attention to the type of extinguisher from the attached label on the tube,

  2. Pull off the safety pin,

  3. Hold the tube firmly,

  4. Keep a safe distance and aim the hose at the fire,

  5. Press the release pin and swipe from side to side until the fire is put off.
