Sustainable Operations

The principle of good governance is a key component of our approach to ensuring that our own behavior reinforces our aspiration to be recognized as one of the most impactful businesses in the world.

Through Fully 1Zurich, complete digitization, Fully Digital and Fully Mobile strategies, Zurich Indonesia is in transition from manual to digital operations.

We are transparent

-

We have identified various material environmental indicators, shared our company's environmental data, as well as our annual revenue publicly.

We are accountable

-

We set precise targets for emission reductions and have clear processes and requirements for sustainable management of our global operations.

We continuously improve

-

Practices that have been going well so far will be developed on an ongoing basis. We also continuously review our processes, milestones and priorities to ensure we stay on the path of leadership.

Reducing Emissions

Zurich is committed to setting targets within the framework of The United Nations Global Business Compact Aspirations Pledge which aims to limit global temperature rise to 1.5⁰C above pre-industrial levels.

As Zurich accelerates action to move towards a low carbon economy amidst the escalating climate crisis, Zurich Indonesia is committed to providing insight, resilience and transparency to support the transition to a neutral climate.

In this operation, Zurich Indonesia has set targets to reduce emission gas based on science, including:

  • Reduce air travel by 30% by 2022 (compared to 2019 figures)
  • Reduce paper use by 20% by 2023 (compared to 2019 levels)
  • Eliminate the use of single-use plastic.

Goals and ambitions:

  • RE100: In 2019, Zurich announced its commitment to use 100% renewable energy in carrying out all of its operational activities until the end of 2022 and joined the RE100 initiative. Zurich Indonesia has become the first insurance company in Indonesia to do this and will continue the initiative to move forward.
  • Buildings that comply with the sustainable program: By 2021, Zurich aims to have buildings that comply with the sustainable program at 50 office locations by the end of 2022. Zurich Indonesia has reduced the use of carbon emissions through flexible work regulations by incorporating three entities (Life, General, and Sharia) at the same head office to build better collaboration. Several other efforts have been made to support the program by installing water sensors, light sensors, and solar panels in buildings.
