Bank Neo Commerce Strengthens Customer Protection Services through Bancassurance Partnership with Zurich
Jakarta, December 3, 2025 – PT Bank Neo Commerce Tbk (“BNC”, “Bank”) has entered into a strategic partnership with PT Zurich Asuransi Indonesia Tbk (“Zurich”) to offer the Critical Illness Optimal Protection insurance product to BNC customers through a bancassurance scheme. This product provides financial benefits to policyholders diagnosed with early-stage critical illness, late-stage critical illness, or terminal illness, covering 34 critical illnesses. It has been available to customers at all BNC branches since November 2025.
This collaboration marks an important step for BNC in expanding service options that support customers’ health protection and planning needs. Currently, awareness of health insurance in Indonesia remains low, as reflected by the insurance penetration rate of only 2.72 percent as of February 2025, according to data from the Financial Services Authority (OJK). This indicates that few people own health insurance products.
On the health side, the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) reports that non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as cancer, stroke, heart disease, and kidney failure account for about 75 percent of deaths in Indonesia. Stroke alone contributes 15.4 percent of deaths, while ischemic heart disease accounts for 14.38 percent. The low insurance penetration and high burden of critical illnesses underscore the need for accessible health protection solutions. This is the key reason BNC partnered with a trusted provider, Zurich, to deliver stronger and more relevant protection for customers.
Through this partnership, BNC expands its financial service portfolio by introducing a product designed to help customers manage critical illness risks without disrupting their financial stability, at an affordable price, making it widely accessible. This collaboration reflects BNC and Zurich’s commitment to supporting government programs aimed at improving financial health for the public.
The partnership also strengthens BNC’s competitiveness in offering comprehensive services that go beyond banking products to include protection solutions tailored to modern customer needs, especially individuals seeking broader coverage.
In practice, BNC acts as a referral point for customers to Zurich through its branch network and Relationship Managers (RMs). Customers interested in learning more about Critical Illness Optimal Protection can visit BNC branches or contact their RM. Zurich will handle the entire process, including product explanation, administration, underwriting, and policy servicing.
Eri Budiono, President Director of PT Bank Neo Commerce Tbk, emphasized that this collaboration is part of BNC’s ongoing commitment to providing value-added services: “Critical illness is a real risk that can happen to anyone, and its impact on family finances can be significant. Therefore, BNC sees the importance of offering protection solutions that are truly relevant and easily accessible. Through this partnership, we aim to ensure BNC customers have more options to plan their future securely, and we are here to support every financial step they take,” said Eri.
Edhi Tjahja Negara, President Director of PT Zurich Asuransi Indonesia Tbk, stated that the strategic partnership with BNC is a key step for Zurich in expanding access to health protection: “In the face of rising critical illness risks and potential financial impacts, the availability of Critical Illness Optimal Protection through BNC’s bancassurance channel provides a real solution to help customers prepare for the future with greater security and confidence.”
Zurich’s Critical Illness Optimal Protection product is designed to deliver comprehensive coverage with complete features and affordable premiums starting from around IDR 2 million per year, offering protection benefits up to IDR 1 billion. Customers also enjoy simplified enrollment with a basic health declaration, no medical check-up required, coverage from the early stage, and a 25 percent premium refund if no claims are made within two years, as stated in the policy. The product also allows double claims, providing flexibility and peace of mind for individuals and families.
BNC believes that partnering with Zurich will bring greater benefits to customers: “By collaborating with Zurich, we strengthen BNC’s commitment to delivering complete, holistic services focused on meeting the public’s protection needs. We will continue to innovate and expand partnerships to ensure every customer receives the best service and a wide range of options tailored to their needs,” Eri concluded.
