Zurich Launches Dengue-Free Village Program, Targeting Over 1,000 Families

Tangerang, November 12, 2025 — Zurich Indonesia launched the "Dengue-Free Village" program in Tangerang City, reaffirming the company's commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles in the community. The program, targeting over 1,000 families, is designed to raise awareness of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) prevention through health cadres. It includes mosquito breeding eradication activities, public education campaigns, vaccinations, and improving sanitation and environmental hygiene practices through the establishment of waste banks.

Data from the Tangerang City Health Office reveals a significant increase in dengue cases, with 1,214 cases in 2024 and 825 cases by August 2025. In addition to being a national concern, dengue has also received serious attention globally, with the WHO designating dengue as one of the 10 major global health threats. These figures underscore the urgency of community-based interventions to suppress the spread of dengue.

Chief HC, Marketing & Comms. Officer, Tini Nurianto, explained, "Through the Dengue-Free Village program, Zurich Indonesia wants to encourage communities to be more resilient to the risk of disease, while also supporting the government's efforts to reduce dengue fever rates."
As part of this holistic approach, Zurich offers a free vaccination program for the community. Research shows that the dengue vaccine can prevent 63% of infections and 84% of hospitalizations due to dengue fever. Furthermore, Zurich is actively promoting the Dengue-Free Village program through four (4) main initiatives, including:

  1. Increasing the capacity of health cadres through training in mosquito larvae detection, outreach techniques, and community education strategies for 25 mosquito larvae monitors (Jumantik) so they can become driving forces for dengue prevention in their homes and neighborhoods.
  2. The "1 House 1 Mosquito Monitor" approach encourages community participation, by encouraging local families to have at least one household member tasked with monitoring mosquito larvae in each home.
  3. Providing dengue fever prevention education based on the 3M Plus practice to at least 1,000 families through home visits, community meetings, and community communication media to encourage understanding and consistent implementation of dengue prevention in every household.

"Coinciding with Zurich Indonesia's 34th anniversary of operating in Indonesia, through the Dengue-Free Village program, Zurich wants to contribute directly to creating a healthier and more resilient environment. We believe that small steps like maintaining a clean home and environment can have a significant impact on disease prevention. This initiative is a concrete manifestation of our commitment to supporting community resilience and improving the quality of life in affected areas," concluded Tini.
